Item 1: Can has had birfday - as of the 25th, I am 24!! Plz to shower me with gifts, mockery for being young, mockery for being old, or just congratulations and well-wishes in the comments. Item 1.5: And yes, it was a lovely day, I celebrated all weekend, I got some really wonderful gifts that I totally don't deserve, and made Belgian raspberry brownies with truffle ganache instead of a cake. They are delicious. I look forward to eating the more than half the pan of leftovers. Item 2: This dude needs a name! Or he will end up a Mr. Wigglesworth for the rest of his pixel-dragony days. Item 3: Job is going well! They seem to like me a lot, so I'm fairly confident they won't fire me anytime soon, and though I'm not making as much headway with the computer system as I'd really like, there's still some good signs of progress being made. I haven't talked to my bosses yet about taking time off for AX, but I'm pretty sure it won't be an issue, so far they've been really nice about giving me whatever time I ask for. I look forward to my first paycheck at the end of the week. Item 4: Someone tell me that this does not mean I should buy a new ipod, even if I have birthday moneys burning a hole in my pocket. Item 5: Speaking of which, if you've ever bought a set of speakers for your computer, tell me about which ones you chose and why? I don't need, like, 5.1 gaming surround-sound, but sometimes I wonder if my JBL Duet speakers aren't giving me the same kind of sound quality I could get from a system with a subwoofer? I finally got around to doing tonight something I've been thinking of doing every time I comment or post - I went through and deleted a bunch of my icons. I also deleted roughly half of the contents of my icons folder! BE PROUD OF ME, IT WAS HARD TO DO. I come from a long line of hoarder-clutterers, and I had to overrule that "OMG NOSTALGIA ;;" instinct a bunch. There's more to be done - I can cull some of the ones that stayed "BECAUSE THEY'RE PRETTY ;;" - but! To celebrate this great accomplishment! REC ME YOUR FAVORITE ICONMAKERS, ICON BLOGS, WHATEVER. Yes, pimping your own icons is fine too. You can see from my icons page the type of things I like. Also I like discussion, so, please, tell me your thoughts on icons. Blanks vs text, your favorite/least favorite faddy style, do you upload icons because you love the character or to be able to represent a certain mood, etcetc. ...I'm too sleepy to come up with a closing line. Guys, guys, major news: I'll be working at a medical supply shop owned by someone my mom knows; they needed someone to mind the shop, but also to help them figure out issues with their computer system. It's not really my dream job, but it's A job, the owners seem really nice, and at least I'll be able to use my computer skills! Now if I can just get time off for AX, it'll be perfect. And in other news, my dragon eggs from last time hatched!    ...And then I got four more, because they're kind of addictive.     CLICK THOSE.

Has anyone on my flist ever dyed their hair with henna paste they mixed from a powder, like the stuff from hennaforhair.com? And then kept the leftover henna powder in a plastic baggie in the freezer for 13 months? If so... did it lose any of its potency? The other option is buying a bundle, but even though the ~250g I mixed up last time made for a full coloring and four touch-ups, I'm not sure if 125g would be enough. ...Plus, it'd cost another $4.50. Plz advise? |

Item one: it are rain. The newpaper says it are be storms by this weekend. ...I really really hope the power doesn't go out when I'm house-and-petsitting in Not Quite Middle Of Nowhere, But Close. Item two: .....Places my cell phone might currently be. A) In the house somewhere that I can't find because the battery's dead. B) In a ditch somewhere along the road I was bicycling on Saturday, that I can't find because the battery's dead or someone picked it up or squished it into a million pieces or something. .....Places my cell phone most definitely is not: ANYWHERE I'VE LOOKED. I was able to get a new phone for cheap by renewing my contract early, and mom's offered to help me pay for a different, less-cheap new phone, but I'm really upset that I've probably lost all the contacts in my address book. At some point, I'm probably going to be asking y'all to please give me your phone numbers again - not now, but whenever I give up on finding the old phone. Jeez, what a thing to've happened when I'm trying to save all my money for AX. Oh, right, that brings me to Item three: I AM PROBABLY MOST LIKELY GOING TO BE TRYING VERY VERY HARD TO GO TO AX \o/ I have no idea how I'll pay for it, what with the being unemployed and all, but I WILL FIND A WAY because omg so many awesome CFUD people to meet and hang out with, and people have told me they won't let me get scared and hide in the room all weekend, and generally I think it would be really amazingly fun. (Even if it's in LA in the middle of summer omg i will dieeee, or even if it's freaking ginormous and I've never been to ANY anime con before omg i will get lost and dieeee.) So who else on my flist is thinking of going to AX? |

I NEED HELP. I have this skirt. It's a made of wool, about knee-length, wraps around to fasten on the side, and I think it's pretty cute! (Plus, it cost enough that I'm a bit reluctant to give it away.) But I can count the number of times I've ever worn it on one hand, because, and here's where I need advice, I have no idea what to wear it with. What sort of top would go with that? Should I wear tights, or nylons? Boots, or dress shoes? Any advice would be appreciated! |

I just had a really trippy and really fun dream that I wanted to note down. It was kind of like... Bruno and Boots grown up (in college), plus song-and-dance routines. There was main-character guy, who I don't remember all that much about, except he kind of toes the line between pranks and petty theft. He (along with sidekicks?) has stolen some cubic zirconia necklace - a replica of some rly famous, or at least expensive, one - and with campus police hot on his heels, he tossed it into this pool-or-fountain for safe-keeping 'til he could come back for it later. (Note: in the dream, it was stated that this was a replica of the Washington Monument fountain, a rectangular sort of dealiebob that's lit up in blue at night. Apparently, my dream-self doesn't know an innie from an outie.) Then there's lead female and HER partner. Partner is only important in the sense that meanwhile, they've stolen the real thing necklace - you know, the version with diamonds - and with the police hot on THEIR trail, they decide to - hey! - also toss it into the Monument fountain. ...Except, not being natives of the town, they can't tell the real thing from the college-campus version. You would think this would lead to wacky hijinks! *I* thought it would lead to wacky hijinx! But, see, this is where the song-and-dance routines come in. It turns out what's-his-name has always wanted to dance along the side of some building-or-fountain-or-whatever, except none of his previous partners, all of them college-age waifs, have been able to support his weight. Well, lead female is a bit past college, and rather stronger, and together they do the dance just fine.... well, almost. It ends with them on top of each other - cue meet cute! After that, I'm not sure what was happening with the dream - it didn't seem to make sense, or really be related to the above story. I do know that other characters involve loverboy's past three partners, all girls, all of whom would have a reason to become OTP with him (I thought at the time that it was the sort of thing I'd almost call a "harem show," except that seems to only be used for anime). I woke up feeling a little regretful that I'm not a writer, because this sort of thing would make an awesome first couple chapters of a book. I'D READ IT! ...also, um, sorry for disappearing for, like, over a month. Hi! I'm not dead! And I still love all of you! Posts about important stuff to follow... at some point. |
